How to Prepare for a Data Center Shutdown Procedure

 

Identify and Schedule Servers for Decommissioning

Cancel all maintenance and software contracts for server

Backup all data

Disconnect server from the network

Remove subnets, firewalls, and other associated software from the server

Remove the server from rack to erase for asset recovery or destruction

Erase server disks and save documentation

A process with data wiping tools and physical destruction

Create a file of all documented processes

Remarket/ Recycle/ Reuse Hardware
